The University Grants Commission (UGC) on June 04, 2019, has issued a public notice in order to announce the running skill programmes for the academic year 2019-2020. Any institution desirous of offering skill based courses from the year at the level of certificate, diploma, advance diploma, B.Voc./M.Voc. may apply on the UGC portal ugc.aicte-india.org. The UGC specifies who should apply and submission of application.
The permission for running the skill programs and for providing funding will be separate. The application called for is only for grant of permission for running the skill courses. The institutions are encouraged to run the courses by generating their own resources and in case of funding, it shall be only on the following terms:
- The training facilities and the infrastructure could be funded by the Central Government.
- The training facilities could be run by industry concerned or such other third party agencies and the cost of vocational instructors could be met by the State Government.
- The consumables and recurring expenditure for the training shall be collected as a fee from the students.
The last date of submission of application on the portal is July 01, 2019.
